A relaxing weekend

Last weekend was a hectic one, my work tennis tournament was a great success but it made me realize that putting on a 3 day event with only two people running it can get very tiring.  It’s been a while since I’ve worked super long days but after doing six 11 hour days in a row really takes a toll on your body. The good thing about it all was that I got to go to bed early on tournament days – getting to bed at 10:30pm is a really joy. I’ve been trying to condition my body to do that for the past week and my body really doesn’t want to respond that way.

The tournament went really well with success indicators that included: all participants had a fantastic time playing on their day of play, we received positive feedback from spectators, being able to identify where we need help (mostly on the logistics side), learned that using only indoor courts create a lot more buzz than when using all courts (inside and out).  If you’re interested in tennis, check out pics from our tournament.

As  way to wind down from the last couple of weeks, I spent this weekend not really having anything planned to just spending time with family and friends. Rearranged and cleaned my room, hung out with my brother and I went to Soupalicious with my friend, Steve. It was so much fun! There were around 30 vendors that set up tables with a soup of their choice and they served everything in compostable 3oz cups with compostable spoons. It was great to see people from the community come out to an event – it didn’t feel like a huge corporate-sponsored thing, just a nice locally run event. Not sure how else to describe it other than that it was extremely enjoyable 🙂

Our favourite soup came from a place called the Hub Coffee House. It was a curried zucchini and the secret ingredient was balsamic vinegar – it was so delicious! They also had homemade goods so I got two chocolate and pecan cookies and a rosemary/black pepper scone for the bf, since he was out of town. Gobbled them down before I could take pictures of it….
